The Orange Assassin Bug is closely related to the Ringed Assassin Bug. It is roughly the same size, lives in the same area, uses the same hunting methods, fills the same ecological niche, and looks very similar. In the eyes of most people, they are functionally the same species. However, from a technical standpoint, they are completely separate species. This is an issue that comes up often in zoology (the study of animals) and it is especially common in entomology (the study of insects). Even to the trained eye, it can be difficult to tell species apart sometimes. For a layperson, sometimes just being able to name the Family is impressive.
