The Red-spotted Newt is a common amphibian in the Eastern United States. It spends most of its life in the water, both as juveniles and adults. But, during its adolescence, it will enter what is known as the “Red Eft” form where it becomes more terrestrial. It will use this time to travel to nearby bodies of water as a way for the species to spread. If you are in the right spot at the right time, you might be able to find swarms of them walking along.
