Many people have had the unfortunate experience of being rear-ended in their car. Similarly, many people have had the unfortunate experience of hitting a pedestrian with their car. However, I would wager that few people have had the experience of their car being rear-ended by a pedestrian. A bizarre situation that I have managed to encounter.

I love my brother. I really do. But I would be remiss in my duties as an older brother if I did not make a reasonable effort to embarrass him as publicly as possible. I could tell the story of the time he accidentally fell out of a tree while trying to jump from one branch to another (he claims he wasn’t). I could tell the story of the time he accidentally broke his arm while trying to impress his girlfriend (he claims he wasn’t). Instead, I will tell the story of the time he accidentally made scrambled eggs while trying to make brownies (he offers no defense).

Red Beard was a fearsome dwarf to behold. A grizzled sailor with his face tanned to a tough leather by years of salt spray, windburn, and hours in the sun. His right arm ended halfway down his forearm, replaced by a vicious-looking hook that itself showed many dents and scratches from years of use. He was a sight to behold and unnerved many people with his simple presence.
