Red-breasted Nuthatch

The Red-breasted Nuthatch is a small bird that is usually seen climbing up and down the trunk of a tree. Much like a woodpecker, they feed primarily on digging insects out of the bark. They are a more northern species and during the winter are only found as far south as the southern United States. During the summer, they are primarily found in the boreal forests of Canada but will venture further south in a few areas along mountain ranges.
